Login to the splunk console and configure the indexes. Goto settings -> Indexes

Splunk Indexes

Let’s add three indexes, events (datatype: events) , metrics (datatype: metrics) and objects (datatype: events), for the index location, we can either give the $SPLUNK_DB default path or the new volume path that we created earlier.
